FAQ MES5 sensor
Does the MES5 sensor require any consumables or maintenance?
As an optical sensor, the MES5 requires no consumables. The only care required is to keep the optical lenses clean to avoid any drift in the measurement.
How is the MES5 calibration process?
You can calibrate the light transmittance signal in two points: a 0% is calibrated by signal extinction and a 100% with distilled water. Between these two points the response signal is linear. Turbidity FAU readings are calibrated with a formazine solution and TSS by using a sludge or wastewater sample. You can insert the real concentration from the sample later, once known. Up to 10 separate sample specific coefficients are stored in the sensor.
Can the MES5 be used for portable and online applications?
Yes, absolutely! On the one hand, its ability to store multiple specific calibration coefficients makes it the best option for manually monitoring several process stages in a wastewater treatment plant. On the other hand, its rugged construction and universal Modbus communication make it perfect for online monitoring and easy integration into a process control system.
